Can't remove old stereo pairs from home.

Ianp

I have previously had several stereo pairs in my home, but recently removed a Google Home Max pair from a room.

Subsequently I was configuring another room and wanted to select the default speaker for the Google Home Mini in that room using the following menu: Speaker Settings -> Audio -> Default Music Speaker

When I scrolled down the list of speakers I could select I found three versions of the Google Home Max pair and two versions of other pairs of Google Nest Audio pairs I have in other rooms that I have also separated. That is multiple deleted pairs that have been removed from the home still visible in the configuration.

How do I delete these speaker pairs? They are not devices I can select because they have been separated as pairs and the individual devices removed from the home.

Hi Ianp,

That certainly hasn’t been easy for you. Let’s make sure we isolate this further: are the devices mentioned still physically available? If so, have you tried setting them up under the same Wi-Fi for you to be able to see if the pairing is still active? Have you tried reinstalling your Google Home app?

You can check out the steps below and see if we can still access your device settings:

  1. Open Home App
  2. Go to Settings > Google Assistant > Manage all settings
  3. Go to Devices
  4. There will be a list on which you can tell a "real" device from a "ghost" by clicking it. It will show "some information unavailable". You can delete the "ghosts" from there if an option shows itself.

Also, you can check the devices on your account and see if an option to unlink/remove is available. Click this link.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan

Hello again,

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?

Kind regards,

Dan

Hi Dan, I did try your advice and all the devices shown were correctly working. None of the devices shown were the devices in the list of devices that you select a default speaker from. So this hasn’t got me any closer to a fix unfortunately.

Hey Ianp,

Apologies for the delay! If you have an Android device, kindly follow these steps to clear the cache:

  • Settings > Apps > Search for Google Home > Storage > Clear Cache

If the behavior persists, you can go ahead and uninstall and reinstall your Google Home app and see if that brings us home.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan
