Cannot communicate with Google Home Mini

I need to do a factory reset on my Google Mini Home because it will not connect to my home wifi after installing a new modem. I cannot do a factory rest if I am not online with this mini speaker. There is no reset button and holding finger on top of speaker does nothing when mic is turned off.  Disconnecting and connecting 11 times does not do a factory reset either.  When I attempt to setup the Google Home Mine 2nd generation I get all the way through the setup until the last step.  Then I get the error message "Could not communicate with your Google Home Mini".  My android phone communicated with the mini speaker just fine and I heard the chime indicating that the mini recognizes my phone.  But still the mini is not connected to the wifi.  There is NO WAY to factory reset this mini speaker that I can find.  This speaker worked just fine until I installed a new modem/router all-in-one.  I have three mini speakers.  One connected.  Two will not connect.

Can you use the instructions here to do a factory reset of your Nest Mini?

I have tried everything to do a factory reset on two Google Home mini speakers.  There is NO reset button, there is no response to unplugging the unit and turning off mic then plugging unit in and touching top with finger, and I No.  I have tried all the standard factory reset options.  None of them work on two of my three mini speakers.  I even tried turning off and on every 10 seconds eleven times and that does not work.  These two units worked perfectly until I installed a new modem/router.  I can go through the Google Home setup for a new device and my android phone communicates with the mini speaker all the way through an installation until the very last step I get error message "Cannot communicate with your Google Home device".

Do you have any access to the Minis in the Google Home app? If you do, maybe this solution will work for you:

Otherwise, you could try contacting Google Nest Support starting with this link:

Hey there,

Thanks for the help, MplsCustomer!

@beach324 To make sure, this is the step in resetting your Google Home Mini:

On the bottom of Home Mini, press and hold the factory reset button located below the power cord. Look for a circle etched into the base. After 5 seconds, your device will begin the factory reset process. Continue to hold for about 10 seconds more, until a sound confirms that the device is resetting.

If you still can't see the reset button, can you send us a picture of the bottom part of your Home Mini so that we can have a better look.  Also, make sure your device is within 15-20 feet of your router. Also, reinstalling your Google Home app and rebooting your phone might help too.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Alex

Hey beach324,

How's it going with your Google Home Mini? Are you still having trouble resetting it?

Thanks for asking.  I used another device and was able to connect the two minis to my wifi.  I have eight google home devices five of which I had no problem connecting to wifi, but the two mini devices were a problem connecting on my android mobile.  So, I used an RCA tablet and it worked!  I never did find a way to factory reset these two minis.  The usual instructions did not work.
