Cannot connect Spotify to nest

Hi,

Since my Spotify App updated on the 13th December I cannot play Spotify through my nest audio or any home linked devices (unless I go into my phone settings and 'cast' to the speakers). Assistant on the speakers also just says 'something went wrong' when I use voice commands for music.

When in Spotify and casting the speaker makes the 'connected tone' but doesn't then work.

I can stream BBC radio and audible through the speakers.

I have also tried various fixes -linking/unlinking Spotify account, uninstall/reinstall apps, rebooting WiFi and devices.

Anyone got any ideas? as I say seems since latest Spotify update.

I have the same problem since yesterday. When I say "play music" spotify logo start screen is coming up and then black screen. Restart devices, reconnect account, reboot WLAN, nothing helps.

Experiencing the same issue on 5 Google Home Mini's and a Nest Hub Max. Mini's play the "connection" tone as described above but then don't play and the Nest Hub Max displays the Spotify logo and then goes to a black screen.

Issue is currently resolved for me, Spotify is functioning on all speakers both with voice commands and when selected on the Spotify App.

Last night I logged off my main Spotify account from all devices and connected to a free/basic Spotify account I created to try and resolve the issue. I logged in using the new account and Spotify worked as it was supposed to on all devices, I then logged out and tried my main account but still experienced the same issues.

This morning I tried Spotify again and this time it worked. Unsure if logging in under a new account and than logging back in to my main account had any affect in fixing the issue or if it was just a coincidence.

I'm having the same issue too.  It has been working fine for a couple years and now all of a sudden it doesn't.  I've spent hours following all the suggestions online and nothing helps. Spotify will play on my phone but I can't cast to the devices even though they show up on Spotify. They make a connection beep but nothing happens. Sometimes Google will tell me that there was a problem and to try later.  

I have factory have reset my google mini's and my Nest. I've unlinked and Linked Spotify in the Google Home App. I've reinstalled the Spotify app, I've cleared the cache and deleted the data. I've restarted my router. I've deleted Spotify again and linked without an app on the phone so Google asks my account email instead of going through the phone app. I've tried everything except delete the Home App because it would probably take me hours to reinstall all the google home stuff and all the smart switches and lights etc..

The weird thing is that everything else works on the Google home app except Spotify, and Spotify works perfectly except it won't play through Google using voice or casting.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Wow these forums work great! I was ready to give up. Woke up this morning and it was fixed. Not sure how but I'm glad it's working again.

Yes, me also, big problem with Spotify recently. Not playing on five devices after two years no problem. Shows logo then black screen. Help please!

Still experiencing the issue on my Google Home; I ask it to play a song on Spotify, it says "Sure, now playing on Spotify" and then no sound.

Like some of you guys, mine is suddenly working again today, no reason or anything I've done.  Fingers crossed it stays that way and yours get sorted .Thanks for feedback 👍
