Cannot connect to (or set up) Google Nest Mini

GrumpyPlebe

I have a (now older) Google Nest Mini, and ever since we switched to an AT&T network with mesh range extenders, I *can not* get this thing to connect.

I've tried a hundred times, both with the usual Google Home app and the newer Device Utility app. Every setup locks up after the Wi-Fi password is entered with the error "Could not connect to Google Nest Mini"

I'm beyond pissed. We have dozens of devices in and out of this home, zero connection issues, but this this isn't working at all.

Direct Tweet from support that worked for me! The reset process was very specific and I hadn't done it correctly. Very happy to have our Nest Mini back!

"Got it. Could you try resetting your Nest Mini to its default settings? Here's how: https://t.co/f6lnzskNDM Once done, give these steps a try:

1. Restart your phone and make sure Location Services is turned on.
2. Go to your phone's settings then under the Wi-Fi list, look for the Nest Mini name and connect to it.
3. Once you're connected, open the Google Home app and set up the device again.

Let us know how it goes."

Hey GrumpyPlebe,

Thanks for bringing this up. I know how difficult it is when your Google Nest Mini is not connecting to your network.

A few questions - how far is your Google Nest Mini from the router? Have you tried connecting your speaker directly to the main router? Are there other Google Home/Nest speakers working on the same network?

To eliminate network issues, please try setting up your device using a mobile hotspot. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one will serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Google Nest Mini).

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi

Thank you for the reply, Muddi! And sorry for the wait. I've added a follow up note with a support reply I received that resolved the issue!
