I am trying to remove a cast device that is orphaned in my Google Home app. It doesn't exist and there is no apparent way to remove it from my Google Home or Assistant. I am trying to remove this phantom device from a household within the app. When clicking on the device, there is no settings option, like there is on my other devices. I even deleted the entire home, then deleted the app after removing all the devices, reinstalled, signed in, but the phantom device is still there.
Why is there no simple "Delete/Forget device" option? How does this device stay within my app settings when I have removed the entire household?

I wouldn't agree that the issue is similar to the one you have linked to. I also have a phantom device in my Google home app. It's a TV which shows as offline which isn't surprising as I don't have it any more. The item is greyed out so I can't do anything with it. How can I remove this device? Why isn't there a simple delete or forget device?

Hi folks,
Thanks for posting and apologies for the late response. I know how it feels when something isn’t working the way it should, this is related to a similar trending issue. Our team is aware of this and is already looking into it. You can also send us feedback. Here's how: https://goo.gle/2NvQG6R. In the meantime, you can try creating a new home structure and move your devices to that new structure. After moving the devices, you can delete the old structure with the phantom device in it.
Keep me posted.

Nikki

After several months of having this phantom device and then posting about it I managed tonfix it. It also didn't require what seems to be the equivalent of totally reinstalling and setting back up again which is ludicrous. You might as well say "turn it off and on again" and I hope we're passed that now. For mine I added the new TV with the same details as the old one and deleted it from Samsung Smart Things and it was removed. I just need a delete or forget option in the home app. Gimme technical reasons why you can't?

Hi Snert,
Thanks for updating us. We're glad to know that you were able to delete the non existing devices from the list. Our team is already aware of this and still working on a stable fix.
Meanwhile, since this has been resolved, I'll consider this post as complete and will lock the thread in 24 hours. Feel free to start a new thread if you need assistance with your Google Nest devices.
