Cannot link YouTube kids to my Google Home hubs

Hi,

I cannot see any way to link YouTube Kids to our family account and use it on my Home hubs.

I set my daughter up a Google managed account (she is 5) trained her voice from the Family Link app, then pushed it to all devices. Now if she asks for any YouTube videos it either says "I don't know, but I found these results on search" Then will show web search results! If I ask the same question, it will play play the video as requested.

I added YouTube and YouTube Kids permissions in the Family Link app. I have have installed YouTube kids on my daughter's tablet but still the option does not appear in my my Google home app under video sources.

Voice control works fine for her on her tablet.

Does this this work outside of the US? I am in the UK. I spoke to Google support and they just wasted 2 hours of my day. Sending conflicting knowledge links...

Anybody any clues?

Used this as a start: https://support.google.com/youtubekids/answer/9159927

Cheers

Hi Jake,

I got nowhere with this. 😕

There seems to be some documentation/reality disconnect!

Hey all,

I am sorry to hear you are still running into the issue, and for the delayed reply. I would recommend double-checking the parental controls, as this may be causing the issue. I did find a helpful article with some details on that, please let me know if that helps or if the issue is still present.

Best regards,

Jake

Hi Jake,

This is a solution to similar but different issue.

Mine and Tom10 issue is about linking supervised accounts to YouTube

Hey all,

I am truly sorry for the trouble and frustration that you are having with the device. I understand that is not the most ideal situation, and I am more than happy to assist. Since you have exhausted all troubleshooting steps, I would like to escalate this to a higher team.

If you could please fill out this form, our Team would then be in contact with you for additional support. Please let me know if you have any questions from here as well.

Best regards,
Jake

My parental settings are all correct. The kids can use YouTube and YouTube music *everywhere* excluding the google speakers. Always with the same message "Sorry, it looks like this account can't play videos on YouTube." which is demonstrably untrue.

I have the same trouble!
I set up my kids with supervised accounts using the same instructions that you did. They can watch YouTube on their tablets etc with no trouble. I pushed their accounts to the speakers and the speakers can recognise them. Whenever they ask for music however, they get the message "Sorry, it looks like this account can't play videos on YouTube."

Yeah something is broken in Google Towers. They have probably changed something... But won't admit it!
