Changing brightness of clock at night

Larry51

Just hooked up my Nest Hub (2nd gen) and want the clock display at night to be brighter. Can't find any directions on how to do that. Is this something that can be adjusted or is the very dim display always like that?

@Larry51

Other customers have also asked for night brightness options, but at present Google Nest's only option is the very dim display of the clock.

Display setting, change minimum brightness to bright or brighter

@mrshanno

Thank you; I didn't know about that setting!

Hi folks,

@MplsCustomer, @mrshanno, thanks for the help.

@Larry51, thanks for posting. Let us help you out.

On your Nest Hub 2nd Gen screen, swipe up from the bottom. You will see the brightness option at the bottom left corner, tap it and select your preferred brightness. You can also tap it again to set it to automatic in which the brightness depends on the surrounding. Other options include Night mode, to enable it, follow the steps below:

  1. Make sure that the mobile device or tablet is signed in or linked to the same account as the Google Nest display, Google Home speakers, and/or Chromecast device.
  2. Make sure the mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi as the speaker or display.
  3. Open the Google Home app.
  4. Tap the device card of the preferred speaker or display.
  5. At the top right, tap Settings > Notifications and digital wellbeing > Night mode > Enable night mode On.

When you want to schedule Night mode:

  1. Under From, tap > choose the time > Ok.
  2. Under To, tap > choose the time > Ok.
  3. Tap the day(s) of the week Night mode will be on. If the circle is blue, Night mode is on for that day.

I also suggest that you check if the ambient EQ is enabled or not. Here's how:

  1. From bottom of the display, swipe up.
  2. In the lower left hand corner, find the light icon.
  3. Check that there is an A in the light icon.
  4. If not, tap the light icon to turn Ambient EQ on.

For additional details, check out this guide.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Dan
