Controlling my 58” Samsung TV from my ‘20 Lenovo smart display & my ‘20 Google Home Mini.

I have been using the Google Home app for about two years now. I rarely have issues, but when I do I am able to remedy the situation quickly. This dilemma has been an ongoing issue and I am now needing to reach out for assistance for my assistants. I have the Lenovo home display and the Google mini. Both products follow direction quite lovely regarding all my Bluetooth/Wi-Fi enabled devices, such as my Mercury smart lights, Mercury Bluetooth wall plug, and my Mercury indoor HD home camera systems.

Lately, my Google mini has been having some instruction errors, like when I ask her to change the bathroom light, which I have labeled, “Luccia Bagno”, It replies with, “I’m sorry, I am unable to complete your request because downtime is activated”, although downtime is not activated at the time I have requested it. I have done all the simple rectification techniques, such as turning off downtime and then restarting my Google home mini. I have added three languages to my Google home application, English, Italian and Spanish. Both devices have no issues seamlessly jumping back-and-forth from all three languages and they are even able to tell different voices apart and what language needs to be spoken with the heard voice. But lately, once again, I am having serious productivity and efficiency issues. The device will hear the question in English, but respond in one of the downloaded languages, like Spanish or Italian. It has thus far to respond in an unprogrammed language, but I suspect that issue won’t be too far behind if I do not get some help. The Google home mini no longer has control over any of my home lights, my smart TVs, or any other device my Google Home app. is linked to. I have de-registered and then re-registered all devices and accounts and completed simple remedy rectification‘s with the language & devices control issue as well. The issue has not rectified. My biggest issue I have is when I can’t find my TV remote control, I cannot control my TV from either device. So I must get up and search around a dark room when I want to pause my movie, although I should be able to say, “Hey Google, pause Sammi”. To be clear, the Lenovo smart display is able to turn my Samsung TV {Sammi} on and off and adjust the volume, but when I request it to display/play a movie on Netflix, Disney+, or Paramount, (I have an account for each of those and I have linked and unlinked each account to the Google Home app, as well as de-downloaded and re-downloaded the Google Home app on each of my iOS & Android devices), the Lenovo smart display and Google Mini will respond with, “Sorry I can’t play Netflix on this device, try another one of your devices” or “Sure, Opening {name of Netflix/Disney+/Paramount series/movie} on YouTube.” or “Sorry, something went wrong. Try again in a few minutes or if the problem persists, contact your network“ or  “I don’t know, but I found these results”.

I do not have any other TV devices/displays linked to my Goggle Home app. My main display is set as “Sammi”, my linked TV in the Google Home app, so I don’t know why the devices think I’m asking for them to display results on You Tube. I have tried to link and unlink my Netflix account through the Google Home Application. Most of the issues are rectified if I open the Google Home Application and control the device through the application from my iPhone 11, iPad Mini five, or one of my android devices, but it defeats my main purpose for home control device purchasing. I am never able to play Netflix or the other services through Google home, I am only able to control my own home devices if the Google Home Mini or Lenovo does not complete my request. I also have noticed that I have more options and better productivity if I use an android device. Is this because most devices, well actually all devices besides Apple’s smart devices, are manufactured as android devices?

I would really like to be able to tell my Lenovo display or Google Home Mini to turn on my TV and play Lucifer on Netflix for example. That is the remedy I would like to get out of this situation. So, if anybody has any thoughts or exercises I can try, besides common knowledge or some thing that’s listed on the Google help page, I am all ears. Also, oddly, my TV is Wi-Fi enabled, so I always make sure all smart devices are linked to the same Wi-Fi, but my TV is not Bluetooth ready. That could also be the issue as to why it can control the volume and powering on/off, but cannot control what’s displayed, but I have not found a linkage between the two. Thanks, Nicole.

The only way I can control tv is thru Bluetooth connection other wise you are just casting and don't have control over the whole app. I'm guessing you have the LG app on your phone I'm not the best with iPhone, but its been my experience when I have an issue, I probably  don't have something set up right and its always in my phone to fix it. I would look at phone settings.

Sorry I'm not sure how that reply got here I was in reddit talking to someone else, that's what I get for using my phone without my glasses. I hope you figure it , for what it's worth Google is changing a lot of things right now , and trying to get some things working again. My own experience I couldn't do anything with Google untill I downloaded mt tv app and conneced blue tooth then it just happened. Lg. My visio did it on its own thanks to visio getting involved in streaming. I would think smart things apps maybe

Hey there,

Sorry to hear about the issues that you're having with the Google Assistant, I'm sure it's frustrating especially after this long, but I'm happy to see how I can help.

It appears, since it is an issue with the Google Assistant not responding correctly, I would suggest reaching out to our specialists in the Google Assistant Forums.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,
