Controlling the Apple music stream from my speaker

Hi, I'm new to the Google speaker world. Among other services, I've now subscribed to Apple Music on a free trial, to use on my speaker. When i ask the speaker to play Apple music, it does start playing some music I usually like, but I have no idea how it's generating a playlist. It doesn't seem connected to my Apple music app on my phone. The Google Home app will tell me what's being played, but there's no way to preview a playlist or anything else. I don't have any playlists set up in Apple Music, although I have playlists I've been using on my phone's music app for a long time. I can ask for specific tunes, but if I don't, it plays anyway.

I'm not even sure what to ask "Google" to find out more. So here I am. Any ideas on what's going on inside my little box?

Thanks

Sorry; I wound up cancelling my Apple music subscription, mainly due to reasons not related to my Google nest speaker. You can close my part of this thread now. Good luck to other users!

The only thing I have found to be supported are playlists. You need to know the name of your playlist.

First thing you need to do, is go into the home app and set Apple Music as your default music service. Now you have to ask for music you like. You can ask for genere (jazz, pop, heavy metal...), Artist, Song, Album, Playlist. "Music is just too general especially if you have just signed up. Some music services will not let you ask for a specific song unless you are on a paid plan.

Now I have a related question, although I'm not sure if it's a Google or Apple issue. Today I asked my speaker to play "Rebel Rebel" by David Bowie. It offered a "single/remix" version, which wasn't what I wanted. I was looking for the original album version (or at least the one on Changesbowie). But after repeated tries, I could only get the speaker to play this single/remix version. Is there some "secret phrase" to use to get the voice command to obey? Even if I could pull up the Apple music app on my phone and then have it play on the speaker would be an okay workaround. I know I could use Bluetooth, but it's a lot of work to get the right tune on.

Hey there,

I would suggest visiting our Google Assistant Forum for the second question and writing to them there as this is a question that they would be able to help answer.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

Garrett DS
