Create “Radio” category?

Seems I want to set choices for Radio, which are different from Music and Podcast.

Eg pref iheartradio to tunein, and set volume level, — and even Bluetooth device (separate from google assist voice sound level which is relatively way too loud).

Hi Teleology,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

To listen to the radio on your Google Nest or Home speaker or display, you need to add your radio services in the Google Home app.

Note: Linking radio services in the Google Home app is only available in the US and Canada.

Connect your radio services

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app .
  3. At the top right, tap your account.

Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account.

  1. Go back to the home screen.
  2. Tap Media .
  3. Under "Manage your system," tap Radio.
  4. Tap a radio service.
  5. To connect your account, tap Ok, then sign in or sign up for the service and follow the in-app steps.
    • To unlink an account, tap Unlink Unlink account.

Note: You can only link one account per streaming service to your speaker or display.

Best,

Princess

Hi, thx. Just to be sure: I do have radio working. I'm listening to ABC Radio National via TuneIn.

The radio category does not appear in the list following "manage your system". I took a screenshot but can't attach it.. there's only music and podcast. I'm using Google pixel 3 and google nest 7" 2nd gen.

Hey Teleology,

Thanks for the update. To confirm, what country are you located in? Also, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling your Google Home app?

Cheers,

Alex

Rather not say what country. Don't see it is relevant.

Hi Teleology,

Thanks for responding. Linking radio services in the Google Home app is only available in the US and Canada.

If you happen to live on those countries, make sure that the language set on your device is set to English (US) or English (CA) for the options to show on the Home app.

Best,

Princess

Thank you for the clarification. I'm in Australia.

There's some basic problems with this Google Nest which makes me want to return it. I simply wanted to listen to the radio. I could not hear it in the shop. I had to purchase it. The sound for news radio is too muddy. I bought a Bluetooth Speaker with better sound for voice. Now I can't set the volume for the Bluetooth Speaker, at a different level from the Google Assistant!

Bluetooth speaker needs volume at 7

There is only 1 volume setting.

This makes the Google Assistant (still on the nest speaker) too loud. Omg too loud.

The Bluetooth speaker turns itself off overnight. The radio does not come on through the Bluetooth speaker in the morning. Mission is radio clock alarm.

I can't see a way forward.

The weather frog is the only redeeming feature, yes totally unrelated but so cute.

In terms of radio/podcast playback this is a fail.
