Customize Max Home Screen?

I bought the hub max thinking from the advertisements that this device would be good to help organize my ADHD. I have no interest in "reliving memories" or seeing the weather for the 3rd time on a different card/widget. I want to be able to see my to-do list/calendar easily. 

I have found other forums of people asking the same questions, but there has been no definitive answer. Did I pay $230 for a picture frame, loud Google assistant?
