Looking for easier solutions than side loading to simply add a hub to my home that already has ao many Google products connected. Seems rather suss that I should have this much difficulty connecting.

Hi @GRADAS19,

Thanks for posting in the community page. I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties adding your Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen) in the Google Home app, as the device utility can't find it. No worries, I'm here to help you. To better assist you, I have some questions:

  • What's the make and model of the phone you use to set up your Google Nest Hub (2nd gen)?
  • Are you using the latest version of the Google Home app?
  • How many Google Nest devices do you have in your Home?
  • Is your Google Nest Hub (2nd gen) powered on and directly connected to a power outlet?
  • What happens when the hotword "Hey Google" is said?
  • How far is your Google Nest Hub (2nd gen) from your phone?

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Cheers,
Jonathan

Thank you for responding.

After almost a week for searching for solutions online i was finally able to connect it somehow.

As i have a Pixel 9, i ended up having to use an only S3 from Samsung to "activate" the hub2 with device utility. But since Google Home was not compatible with the S3, i had to then use my pixel to connect. Still dont know how as Home would not find my hub when searching after activating(even though it would find it before activating).

Anyway, after about an hour of just pushing buttons and restarting things, reinstalling apps, etc...It magically was found by my Home app.

Amazing after reading all these threads that this is still an issue after almost 3 years give or take.
