Devices and Groups Disappearing

Just came back to Android after a year with the other guys and, good gosh, what a mess Google Home has become in Android 12. Devices are randomly dropped and any time taken to create a speaker group is pointless as it will disappear overnight, if not sooner.

Hey there,

I understand that this issue can be confusing but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Would you mind letting me know what troubleshooting steps you have tried?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Happy Holidays,
Garrett DS

Any time I create a speaker group it either disappears entirely within a few minutes or after a couple hours or so of use. Based on a little research here, I tried rebooting and restarting modem, router, and all devices but that failed to do anything. I am using speaker groups via Spotify streaming, though they disappear in the Google Home app as well as the Spotify cast menu. Thanks for responding!

Hey there,

Thanks for the information.

Have you tried deleting and recreating the speaker group? Also you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the app? You may also want to try unlinking and relinking the devices from your app.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Garrett DS

Hello GarretDS,

I have done all these things and it is time-consuming to say the least. I find that rebooting my router is the best bet, but how many times a day must this be done? Groups keep disappearing and so do devices. I'm sitting in my office right now and i see the google chromecast ultra screen saver, but my google home (iOS) doesn't recognize it. I have a brand new ASUS mesh router and even went down to only one to see if that would solve the issue but no go. Verry frustrating and no solutions in sight!

This is a years long ongoing issue. Sorry to insult you, but a 'community specialist' isn't gonna go a dam thing. Google just needs fix their garbage ecosystem.

No amount of troubleshooting SOLVES the issue if we have to do more than once or on a regular basis. There is no trouble shooting to fix it, you just have to hope that your desire to use speaker groups lines up with the 10% reliability the Google cast software.

Prime example, on this forum alone, there are "no matches" for the Google devices I'm using. And Google provides literally ZERO support or people to fix issues, let alone a software they're haven't been able to reign in the entire time the products have been on the market.

Google may have bought the Nest brand but it's still 100% Googles fault their **bleep** doesn't work.

Hey All,

Since this thread hasn't had activity in a while, we're going to close it to keep content fresh.

We hope you were able to get the help you need. If you still need assistance with your speaker group, feel free to submit another post and provide as many details as possible so that others can lend a hand.

Thanks,
Alex
