I'm thinking about getting my 90+ parents who live alone Google Nest but want them to have the ability to call 911 since they refuse to wear a medical alert device. I understand this is not possible unless you pay for Nest Aware. Nest Aware includes features they will not use. Is there a way they can contact emergency services without Nest Aware?

Hi there,
The ability to be able to call local emergency services is only available for US users with a Nest aware subscription.

Thanks. I understand that, but can this be a workaround. Create a contact called emergency (or something else) and have the number be 911? Then have my parents say, "Hey Google, Call Emergency"

No sorry that will not work.

Ok, so lets say I pay for the subscription for Nest Aware. My Mom is not home and my Dad falls and cannot get to the phone. Can my Dad say "Hey Google, call 911" and be connected to the nearest emergency center?

Hey there,
Thanks for the help, Cathal_S!
leenie626, emergency calling will be available in the Google Home app because Google believes this is the most common way subscribers will use it — after all, customers are more likely to have their phone with them when they’re away from home than their speakers or displays. Plus, one of the added benefits of this feature is the Home app provides a call emergency services prompt if one of their devices detects something is wrong, and it routes their call to the emergency dispatch center closest to their home, regardless of where they are. Check the the link above for more information.
We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback.
Best,
Alex

Thanks Alex. I do prefer Google, but it looks like Alexa Together is the option I will go with. Too bad, Google does not have something similar. Thanks for your help.

Hey leenie626,
We know how important this is for you — we hear you! I also suggest that you send feedback using your devices by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback," or by following the steps on this link. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you need assistance or if you have questions with Google Nest devices, feel free to start a new thread in the community and we’ll be happy to help.
Thanks,
Alex
