Find wifi network for dongle

  • I have only just joined this group.

I have several Chromecast devices. Speaker Audio Pro A38. Three origional Chromecast Audio dongles.

I am having problems getting the dongles to be recognised by all the Andriod devices I use.

Firstly I have a Galaxy Tab A (8.0", 2019) tablet as my audio source in my lounge; BBC Sounds, Poweramp and Qobuz.

On this tablet Google Home will eventually recognise one dongle. However I can't use the app to check what WiFi the dongle is using; the instructions I have found e.g. a video that says go to Home dongle page and click gear symbol at top right. There is no gear symbol at top right on that page  on my Home app; I have checked and found I have the latest app.

So where do I go from here?

Any advice please?

Hi athegn,

Thank you very much for reaching out to this community! I understand you are having trouble with your home devices. Specifically, regarding the issue with your Android devices recognizing the dongles, it seems that while the Google Home app eventually recognizes your Galaxy Tablet (which you use for BBC Sounds, Poweramp, and Qobuz), you cannot use the app to verify the Wi-Fi network for the adapter. I appreciate that you have already tried following the video instructions to complete this process. Don't worry, we are here to help you!

I would like to ask a few questions so I can provide you with the right troubleshooting steps.

  • Have the streaming devices been successfully set up before?
  • Aside from being unable to find the settings icon, is there any other issue you are experiencing?
  • Is your Wi-Fi network 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz?
  • What's the LED light status (solid or flashing white)?
  • What's the distance between the router and the Chromecast device?
  • What's the distance between the router and the Dongles?

Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

Best regards,
Eduardo

Have connected before; using 2.4

My WiFi network is both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz

LED solid white

Router to Chromecast dongle 200mm

Router and device (Galaxy ab A ("8.0)" 2019) 800mm I.e near to dongle.

Trying something else. Changed tablet to 5Ghz. Google Home found donglebut message "Connecting to Wi-Fi" now running for at least 10 minutes without connecting.

Removed from Room then reverses found d now working. Hopefully will connect when tablet and/device turned off and restarted.

Will also try to setup wifi speaker. This nearly always disappears when tablet/speaker turned off then back on.

Now added my Audio Pro A38 speaker, some 4M from the Router; tablet still next to router.

Restarted tablet. Switch off then back on the A38.

All working. Hope I will have the same tomorrow.
