Getting run-around on Google Home Max

So I've unboxed a Google Home Max I purchased a few years ago. I just never got around to setting it up. I have the Google Home app, and the device is found when connected, however the app says there is more setup involved, and am told to go to the help center for setup instructions.

I click on the link in the Help Center, then I follow a link to a device manager that is outdated and will not run on my Google Pixel 7, because it is for earlier Android devices.

How can I get this speaker to work?

Hi dunk777,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand your Google Home app is saying there is more setup involved, and you were told to go to the help center for setup instructions while you're trying to set up your Google Home Max you purchased a few years ago. I know how frustrating it is being directed to an outdated device manager that is incompatible with your Google Pixel 7. I'm here to help! To gather some more details, I'd like to ask the following questions:

    • What error message did you get when you tried to set up your Google Home Max?
    • Are there any other networking devices on the network aside from the wireless router, such as an extender, repeater, or another access point?
    • Can you please provide me the name of the device manager app that you mentioned earlier?

Let me know if you have any additional information; it’ll be helpful.

Best regards,
Juan
