I'm trying to set up a Google Doorbell Battery with a Google Hub 2nd generation.
Let's see if I can get all my info listed right now.
I just bout a brand new Google Doorbell Battery and three Google Hub 2nd generations.
I want to be able to have a guest ring the door bell and then I get an alert on on the Hubs, I then want to be able to talk to the guest through the hub.
I got everything hooked up and installed at my "work" location. When a guest presses the door bell button I do get an alert on the Hubs, but when I press the mic button on the hub to talk the connection is made but I have yet to have a clear conversation. The audio/video going from the doorbell to the hub is either extremely chopped and is impossible to have a conversation. Same issue on all three new Hub generation 2 i bought. The internet speed is plenty fast at this location. It is usually 500Mbps download and 160Mbps upload. But I thought I would run some other test to try and narrow down the problem.
While still at this location I also tried...Answering the door bell on a cellphone (iPhone SE 2020) though the Google Home app. Everything worked perfect. Audio/Video between the devices worked as expected.
So far the issue is when the door bell button is pressed and then answered on the Hub 2nd generation.
next step
I brought the google doorbell battery to my "home" location that had a google hub 1st generation. I did a factory reset on the doorbell and added it to that home. Did the tests again and it worked perfect. The difference was this time it was a hub 1st generation. But...what if it was working because i was at another location with different internet (even though the internet there is slower than the first location). So let try another experiment.
next step
I bought the google doorbell battery AND the google hub 1st generation to my "work" location. Connected everything back together in the app and internet...and it worked as it should.
so, to me, it appears there are issues with the google hub 2nd generation connecting properly to the doorbell. I did some looking around and the hub 1st generation got an operating system update around May 2021 to Google Fuchsia. The google hub 2nd generation is running on Google Cast for its operating system. Is this the issue? Is there anything I can do besides wait for google to see the problem and fix it? If not I either exchange these for the Hub Max which looks like it will work with this door bell, or return everything and look elsewhere.

Hey alf_MN,
Thanks for sharing details about the issue. My apologies for the delayed response.
I know how challenging it is when you're having issues with your Google Nest Hub (2nd gen). We appreciate your efforts. We'd be happy to take a look into this for you. Could you check the current firmware version of your Nest Hub (2nd gen). Also, fill out this form with all the needed information then let me know once done.
Cheers,
Muddi
