Google Home Assistant is randomly Gender Fluid between selected male voice and default female voice.

Google Assistant's voice is very unstable from one minute to the next. Our friends with similar setups have the same issue happening. We never know if the default female, or custom selected male voice will come out of our many Nest devices, hence the Gender Fluid description. Another hot mess from the Google engineers. Not a new issue and it has been reported for a long time.

Hello GoBananas,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

We're sorry to hear about this experience. You can change the sound of Google Assistant’s voice. When you change the voice setting, it will apply to all of your Google Assistant devices.

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Tap your account.Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Google device. If correct, tap to close the account window. To switch accounts, tap the dropdown icon , then tap another account or Add another account.
  4. Tap Settings and then Google Assistant and then Manage all Assistant settings and then Assistant voice & sounds and then choose a voice.

As soon as you're done choosing your preferred voice, monitor its behavior and see if this would change.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Princess

I'm well aware how to change the voice, your instructions don't do anything I did not already know. It is a Google BUG that causes it to be gender fluid on it's own, going back and forth from one minutes to the next all on it's own, between what I set for the voice (Pink - Male voice), and what the default voice is (default Red - default Female voice). Tell the engineers to fix it. Thanks

Hello there,

Thanks for clarifying. Could you send us a short video clip showing the issue? We'd like to take a closer look into this.

Best,

Princess

I've done that a few times already.

This problem is persistent and still not resolved. Not a critical issue, but indicative of the unstable hot mess called Google Home. There are many unstable hot mess issues with Google Home.
