Google Home Completely Unusable

I have something like a dozen or so speakers of various models, it's not just 1 model that is not working, nothing works properly now.

  • I have a linked youtube premium account, but it keeps telling me I don't so I can't access my supermix
  • My max reboots many, many times per day
  • If it manages to start a timer, it will acknowledge that it is shutting off the timer alarm, but then not shut it off, even when it lowers the alarm volume to respond
  • broadcast rarely works...to be fair it was never great to begin with
  • integrations with irobot, harmony, etc. are sporadic

Overall it has become drastically worse in the last 6 months.  Unfortunately we have a mostly google ecosystem, so it's going to be a costly switch over when you include cameras, wifi, and the like

It's exponentially worse than you say and much worse than I can articulate as a formerly optimistic tech enthusiast. It's phenomenally, inexplicably dysfunctional. And I mean that in a big way — not in a small way. We're better off abandoning tech altogether and going off grid. Every last one of my high expectations have been wantonly shat upon. Google Home and Google Nest have shocked and betrayed me to such an extent that I now question my worldview, the merits of higher education, of engineering, and the fallacy of technological advancement. This isn't satire, by the way! I've lost faith in our thought leaders. Thanks, Googs.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out. I apologize for the inconvenience you're experiencing. We'll work together to identify the cause of the problem and find a solution. A few questions: what Nest speakers or display are we working with? Were there any recent changes made? Also, what steps have you taken so far?

I look forward to your responses.

Regards,

Juni

Hello,

As mentioned I have a mix of everything (from pucks to Hub Max) of various ages.  Nothing on my end has changed lately.  They are all exhibiting the same behaviour, which leads me to believe it's not a hardware problem it's a the updated software/logic or lack thereof.

Hi UnholyReg,

Thanks for the details you’ve shared. Try to refresh your devices and observe if it makes a difference. First, reboot your Wi-Fi router, and once the network is back up, do the same thing to your Google Nest speakers and displays. If this did not work, you can do the factory reset; this erases all your personalized settings and restores the factory default settings. It won’t automatically reconnect to WI-Fi, and you’ll need to set it up again. Check out the article below to know more about it.

Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays

Thanks,

Juni
