Google Home Max

I have a Google Home Max that was part of a linked pair that isn't working. I have not been playing much music through the speakers since maybe Christmas...I did try to cast an audio book from an app a month or so ago. I received an error and kept playing it through my phone. I regularly ask the Google Assistant to perform tasks through the speakers and received responses so I never thought anything was wrong. I recently tried to cast to the speakers again and realized only one speaker was working and the error message was stating the working speaker could not connect to the other linked speaker and to check that the second speaker had power and was connected to WIFI. The second speaker was totally unresponsive.

I didn't think much about it and just unplugged the bad speaker for about 30 seconds and plugged it back up. Nothing happened. The power light is on at the rear of the speaker though. I tried resetting it but there is no response from this speaker at all. No lights on the front of the speaker. I did some research and tried unplugging the device 10 times etc. The speaker is still in the same state. The speaker has lived its life on the shelf just like the second speaker. Has anyone successfully gotten a speaker to work again? I purchased one speaker in 2019 and a second in 2020...so I know they are out of warranty but I am hoping there is another way to reset this speaker. Investing in expensive smart speakers was always a concern of mine and now it looks like my concern was warranted.

Hi Gix1967

Sorry to hear about this situation with your Google Home Max, no worries, help is here! I looked for further troubleshooting and the next step after unplugging the device 10 times is processing a replacement. Unfortunately, your device is already out of it. My recommendation would be to leave it disconnected for 24 hours and try again the troubleshooting.

Regards,

Axel.
