Google Home No Longer Continuously Streams Nest Camera

We have 2 Google Home screens at my house and have a non-battery Nest Cam on software version 223-610050 that we have used as a nursery camera for the last couple years.  We usually can say to the Google Home "show nursery camera" and the Google Home will stream the video continuously until we tell the Google Home to stop streaming.  For the last 1-2 months however the video only streams for a few minutes and then either shuts off or turns to a gray screen with a line through the camera.  This is very annoying because it no longer continues streaming the baby monitor like it has for the last couple years and every few minutes to restream the video.  I have asked for help from Google Nest and we just reset both Google Home devices because it is the same issue on both of them.  Reset/restarting them did not correct the issue.  Please let me know if you any guidance on this!

Sorry to hear about what you're experiencing and I know how useful the camera is to the whole family. Let's sort this out by answering these questions:

 

  • Do you have a Nest aware subscription?
  • Have you made any changes on your device's set up before experiencing this?
  • Are there any message prompt or response from the screen of your Google Nest display after you command it?

We'd love to know more details so we can try some steps.

Hi, yes we have a nest aware subscription. We havent made any changes. No messages or errors on the google home or on the google nest camera. This is isolated to the google homes because the camera successfully shows the camera all night when being displayed on an iphone or on an iPad using the nest app.
