Google Home Says I'm Not Connected to Same Network as various Speakers. But I am.

Using Google Nest Mesh Router with 2 additional access points. My phone is connected to my network - but when I try to cast any music from my phone to any of my speakers, it says I am not connected to the same network. The speaker does respond to voice commands, so it is connected to wi-fi - but I can't control it from my phone.

My only guess is maybe my phone is on the 5G and the speakers the 3G ban?

Any thoughts?

It's 2.4 & 5 factory reset them all then reinstall and make sure the the PORTS are all  connected to the right PORTS and XBOX I assume 3 are not taking up your PORTS

Thanks for the reply but I'm gonna need little more. No Xbox was involved in my network. And factory reset what? My speakers? My APs?  And what are the right ports?

What do you have for internet service like do you have Verizon FiOS Comcast or Xfinity basically gateway you have AT&T what service do you use for your wireless internet and yes for the speakers you factory reset them so there should be a little a little button that you hold until everything goes orange and it'll tell you that it's about the factory reset everything you're going to lose everything that's on it and you're going to have to redo everything again but in doing so you can make sure that you are the person that is controlling everything don't let gas control things make sure I go the only home member on the system your ports so you can put forward to help gain I guess basically more speed for like if you have kids and have Xbox or PlayStation 5 and you need more megabytes per second flowing to it you can open it up to another Port which allows more data to be received

Factory reset a speaker. Re configured it.

Same problem. The Google home app still says my phone and the speaker are not on the same network.

And not sure why it matters but no gaming going on here. No xbox, no playstation, and i don't have need to regulate bandwidth. Just trying to cast Spotify from my phone to a bunch of smart speakers.

Hi folks,

@IamWes718, thanks for the help.

@mjbosscher, I’m sorry for the trouble this has caused you, let me help you out. Since you did the reset try to use another mobile phone to isolate the issue further. Also could you provide your Nest speakers firmware version?

Looking forward for your response.

Best,
Juni

The devices are not "nest" devices. They are JBL speakers. But the problem also extends to many of my smart outlets. Sometimes I can control them, other times it says I'm not on the same network.

This problem started when I installed Google Nest Wifi with access points. This might be the wrong thread for this discussion but wasn't sure if it is speaker issue or router issue or Google Home app issue.

I have two phones in front of me. Both in airplane mode and connected to the same WiFi network. If I open the Google Home App, one of the phones says the Smart Speaker is not connected to the same network. The other phone says it is connected to the same network.

If I go into the Smart Speaker Device Information screen, both are identical. Same Home, placement, WiFi, same IP address. Everything.  Except my phone says not on the same network.

If I open spotify on both devices, one of the phones has the ability to cast to the smart speaker, the other the speaker is not even listed.

Hi there,

Thanks for the details, based on that, it appears that the issue is isolated to your phone. We suggest you get in touch with the other phone manufacturer to check their device.

Regards,

Juni

Samsung Galaxy S21 5G. They said it was a Google Home/Nest WiFi Issue.

They are not entirely wrong. The issue started when I setup my Google Wifi with APs.

Hello mjbosscher,

Thanks for the update. Did you, try resetting your Google WiFi devices and re-linking your speakers?

Keep me posted.

Thanks,

Juni
