Google Home Speaker stuck in wrong language

Hi All

A few weeks ago I had to factory reset my Google Home speaker because it kept disconnecting from my Wi-Fi. This solved the connectivity issue, however it changed the language on the device from English UK to English US. It now has an American accent and weather results in F rather than C and I cannot change it back to UK. I have changed the language in the Google Home App to English UK but that change doesn't seem to be implemented on the speaker. This has been done through the latest Google Home app on a Google Pixel 8.

I checked the device information for the effected speaker and under technical information it states the language is set to en-US with no option on that page to change it.

System Firmware: 415414

Cast Firmware: 3.73.415414

I have 3 Google Speakers, 1 speaker with built in assistant and a Google Home Max but this has only happened on the one I factory reset.

Can anyone help?

Hi There

Factory resetting the unit again has done the trick. Maybe because my pixel was set to En-US out of the box that caused the issue. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi there FREEJAFFA86,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

It can certainly be strange if you seem to get a different assistant voice, but it's fine; let's see what can be done about it.

My first recommendation is to follow this article on how to change the language of the Google Assistant specifically. Once you try it, can you let me know if you can see English UK in those options?

Since the language in the Google Home app is displayed as English UK, I can also suggest trying another factory reset on your speaker. However, this time, make sure the language of your device itself (phone or tablet) is set to English UK and not US.

Let me know what you find out.

Regards,
Angel.
