Google Home spotify

Hi.

I am in the UK. Last week we had a three day outage from Virgin. Wifi

Changes in the house since.

Our router has a new name.

We have installed a new Chromecast.

Since then all devices are back up and running with no problem.

Our only issue is Spotify.

Spotify(or Google home) will no longer play our playlists via a voice command. But it will play other music

My wife and I have a duo account.

So far we have

Unlinked our accounts. (various times)

Cleared the cache of both Spotify and home.

Uninstalled Spotify.

Reset one of the speakers.

Any ideas please.

Hi Wobbly22,

Thank you for posting in the community! I'm sorry to hear that your Google Home device is not responding to the commands to play the appropriate Spotify music. I'd be happy to help!

To better assist you, I'd like to gather the following information:

  • What is the specific model of your Google Home speaker? Here’s a helpful article about how to identify the model of your device.
  • Does this inconvenience only occur with a specific playlist, or does it happen with other playlists or songs as well?
  • How long did the device work as intended before you experienced this symptom?
  • Have you checked if the lights turn on when you say the hot word "Okay Google" or "Hey Google?"

Since you've mentioned that you've reset the Google Home device, I'd like to confirm if you've performed a restart or factory reset (all settings). In the meantime, I’d suggest the following steps:

  • Check for updates for the Google Home device and the other speaker and mobile software versions.
  • Verify if the Google Home's microphone isn't blocked or covered.
  • Make sure the device is powered by the provided power cord and is plugged directly into a power outlet. If so, try connecting the device to another power source.
  • Verify if the speaker microphone isn't muted.

Additionally, you can check out this article for more troubleshooting steps: Google Assistant doesn't respond.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
