My Google Nest Home has stopped casting radio stations to Google Chromecast Audio. I have rebooted everything, and still does not work. Anyone else having this problem?

Hi @Ray1939,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand your Google Nest Home device has stopped casting radio stations to your Google Chromecast Audio, and even after rebooting everything, the issue persists. Let's work together for a solution.

Since you've already tried rebooting everything (which is the first and best troubleshooting step), let's try a few more targeted things and then discuss what might be the underlying cause if these don't work.

Troubleshooting Steps to Try:

  1. Check your Radio Service Linking:

    • Open the Google Home app on your phone.

    • Tap Settings (the gear icon).

    • Scroll down to Services and tap on Radio.

    • Ensure that your preferred radio service (e.g., TuneIn, iHeartRadio, etc.) is still linked. If it is, try unlinking and then relinking it.

  2. Verify Default Speaker Settings:

    • In the Google Home app, tap on your Google Nest Home device's tile.

    • Tap Settings (gear icon in the top right).

    • Look for "Default music speaker" or similar options. Ensure your Chromecast Audio is still set as the default speaker for music and radio if that's your intention. If not, try setting it explicitly when you make the request (e.g., "Hey Google, play [radio station] on [Chromecast Audio name]").

  3. Try Casting Other Audio Types:

    • Can you cast music from a different service (like YouTube Music or Pandora) to the Chromecast Audio?

    • Can you cast audio directly from an app on your phone (e.g., open a radio app on your phone and use its cast icon to send it to the Chromecast Audio)?

    • If other audio types or direct casting work, it might point to an issue with the radio station commands specifically for the Chromecast Audio.

  4. Factory reset the Chromecast Audio:

    • While you've rebooted, a factory reset is more drastic. Only do this if other options fail, as you'll have to set it up again.

    • To factory reset: While the Chromecast Audio is plugged into power, press and hold the button on the side of the device. The LED light will start blinking orange. Keep holding the button until the LED light turns white. Once the LED light starts blinking white, release the button.

    • Then, set up the Chromecast Audio again in the Google Home app as a new device.

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Best regards,

Kevin
