Google Nest Hub stuck on Almost Done screen

My brand new Google Nest Hub is stuck on the "Almost Done" screen. I've tried everything on previous threads here and elsewhere on the Internet but nothing has helped this far. Now three days after delivery, I have reset the Nest Hub appr. 20 times. Reset internet, used different internet, used different devices with Google Home (latest iOS and Home app). Thing run rather smottly up until the "Almost done!" screen. Sometimes in English, most times in Swedish (my prefered language), always with Voiceassistant fully functioning, playing Spotify etc. but sceen stays on "Almost done!".  Please advice how I can get my product to work as intended with a usable screen.
To speed things up I will fill in the "We need some more info..." form right now.

Is the Nest Hub right next to the router? Sometimes that helps when initially setting a speaker up.

Then you move it to where you need it.

Thanks for Your suggestion. I moved it to really close proximity, however it did not do any difference 😞

Dear Community specialists 😘 A search in the community for "Almost Done" produces 277 hits, not all of them related to Google hub, but a majority is. Since I have followed every tip Community specialists have given historically, should I give up and return the device or is there anything new to consider now early 2026?

Hi @Nergruht,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I am so sorry to hear your Google Nest Hub is stuck on the 'Almost Done' screen. I appreciate the effort you've put into troubleshooting so far; I understand how frustrating it is to try setting it up several times with no success. I'm glad to help.

Thank you for your response @SmartHomeH-TAGS.

To help us troubleshoot further, could you please answer the following:

  • What country are you located in?
  • Where is the device placed, and how far is it from the WiFi router?
  • Who is your Internet Service Provider (ISP), and what type of router are you using?
  • Are you using any WiFi extenders, repeaters, or additional access points?
  • Have there been any recent changes to your network settings?
  • Do you have other available WiFi networks with similar names?
  • What is the current firmware version of the Google Nest Hub?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Gabriela

  • What country are you located in?
    • Sweden
  • Where is the device placed, and how far is it from the WiFi router?
    • It's been on tables, desks and in the sofa. As best 1 meter from router, as worst 5 meters.
  • Who is your Internet Service Provider (ISP), and what type of router are you using?
    • Bahnhof and I am primarily using TP-Link Deco M5 mesh (3 units). As upgraded as they can be. No client separation (no guest network). I also has a secondary WiFi with an Huawei B525a - 23a 4G-5G router. On both WiFi's I have tried using 2.4 and 5G networks, auto and only one frequency at a time.
  • Are you using any WiFi extenders, repeaters, or additional access points?
    • Mesh, se above.
  • Have there been any recent changes to your network settings?
    • The product is brand new so that really should'nt matter. But I moved here on august 1st. No problem what so ever since then. I love gadgets so the most resent change is a new Google Streamer that replaced a CCWGTV4K that now is is relocated to the bedroom screen. And off course the non working Google Nest Hub 😞
  • Do you have other available WiFi networks with similar names?
    • No
  • What is the current firmware version of the Google Nest Hub?
    • I believe it updated on first boot. Other than that I have no idea since I can not access it. So, the latest FW I would guess.

TIA and BRGDS

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the detailed information you provided, and I'm glad to continue helping you.

Please set up a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot on your phone and attempt to connect the device to it. This step is crucial to determine if the error is coming from the device hardware or the current network configuration.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Gabriela

Hi Gabriela, no indications that it is a network related issue preventing my product to complete setup.

When using a borrowed Andriod as HotSpot and my main iOS-phone to configure during initial setup the process and the results are exactly the same as via my Wi-Fi's. When using iOS as Hotspot and a borrowed Android to configure Nest Hub during initial setup, it ends in "Can't connect to Wi-Fi". The Android has active connection to the shared internet access from iOS the whole time. The Android has been setup using my regular Google user (email, home etc) and with a test user created only for the purpose of getting my Nest Hub to complete installation/configuration.

Hi again Gabriela, thought I'll give You some other facts. When it is stuck in almost done, I can use voice control without problems. Hey Goggle what time is it gives me a reply with correct time. Hey Google, play the latest global news starts the latest global newscasts. While playing those, or playing spotify after a voice command, the screen goes gray. When I say stop, the Almost configured screen comes back.

NB: There is no mesh on the Huawei WiFi, only TP-Link Deco.
