Google Nest WiFi sensitivity

spharris73

I have the Google Nest WiFi & Google Pixel 7 Pro. When I'm in the same room as one of my WiFi pods (2 total) and I prompt my "Hey Google" on my phone, the pod I'm near will announce the results but there's no results on my phone screen. I already turned down the sensitivity settings to -2.

Aside from turning off the mic on the WiFi pods, how do I get the pods to not always pick up my "Hey Google" prompt from my phone as well as to show the search results on my phone screen??

Hey spharris73,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue.

A quick question: are you using the same Google account for your Pixel 7 Pro phone and your Nest Wifi points?

We'll wait for your update.

Best,
Abi

Hello spharris73,

Thank you for confirming. Currently, there is no other step you can do aside from muting your Nest Wifi points. Normally, If you’re near your Nest Wifi points and Pixel phone, only your Nest Wifi points should respond to "Hey Google." All devices may wake up, but your phone should go back to sleep. More details here

Let us know if you have any other questions or clarifications and I’ll be happy to help out.

Regards,

Abi

So just to understand, if I have my Pixel phone on me and I'm within earshot of one of my Nest WiFi points and I initiate "Hey Google" to my microphone on the phone.....by default the WiFi point will announce the results and my Pixel phone will not (on the screen)? And the only remedy for that is to turn off the microphone on the WiFi Nest points?

That is correct!

That's kind of inconvenient. What's the use of starting a Google search on your phone that only announces on one of the Google Nest WiFi points.....yet the user cannot visually see the search results?

Hi spharris73,

We understand. We know that this is not the answer that you are looking for but rest assured that the team is working hard to incorporate more features on the Google Home/Nest devices to avoid these type of issues.

Where can I leave feedback on this specific issue so that the developers know to remedy the problem?

This is a serious problem & inconvenience. To prompt your phone to search with "Hey Google" when near a WiFi point & not be be able to visually see the results of said search on the phone screen is of no use in any form. What if a user needs to edit said search? They cannot in it's current form!

Hey spharris73,

You can always send feedback by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback" on your Nest WiFi and phone. Click here to learn more.

Let us know if you have further concerns about your device. Otherwise, we'll be closing the thread after 24 hours.

Cheers,
