As of about one to two months ago, the Google Assistant—Gemini or whatever this ill-thought-out parrot is called—has become completely and utterly incapable of performing the most basic, rudimentary tasks I rely on my assistant for daily.
It’s not just things like:
“Hey Google, lower the lights in the living room to 20 percent.”
If I were to ask it that, it would look up Wikipedia for “lowering the lights in the living room to 20 percent” instead.
If I ask it, whether in the car or at home:
“Hey Google, play my Daily Mix 1 on Spotify,”
it no longer works.
To make matters worse, the assistant sounds depressed. Some change has been made to its voice, and now it sounds like it’s on the verge of giving up entirely—completely and utterly soulless.
I have no idea why I even have my Nest, because if I ask it to do anything—and I mean anything—it either Googles the query or looks it up on Wikipedia.
“Turn off the lights.”
“Here is what I found on the web for ‘turn off the lights.’”
You name it, it cannot do it.
Is it just me who has noticed this rapid decline in functionality?
