My Google nest speaker is playing music but when I go into the Google home app I can’t control the volume and it says speaker isn’t playing music.???

Hi Cynm1016,

This is not the experience we want you to have; let me help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? When did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made? Are you able to control the volume via voice command?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first: 

1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
3. Restarting your phone might also help.
4. Make sure all devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and frequency.

If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall your Google Home app. Use the same account when setting up your Google Home app so as not to lose your devices.
