Google home mini wont conntect to wi-fi

I just bought a Google home mini and it has been a struggle. Just to set it up I've had to factory rest the speaker 5 or 6 times and uninstall then reinstall the app 5 or 6 times. I have gotten to the "connecting to wi-fi" screen and it is just circling the drain. It won't connect. I have tried manually connecting to the speaker through my wi-fi settings on my phone as the help center suggested and that didn't help. I am connected to my 2.4 wi-fi. I have a Google Pixel 6 pro and the app is updated along with my operating system. I have tried another non-pixel phone also. Nothing is helping. What can I do now?

Thank you for the information. I have done all that you mentioned. I live in the USA and am on a private network. What ended up working was using my dad's phone to set it up (no issues there at all), adding me as a family member and then having him uninstall the Home app. I'm not sure why my Google phone, through a Google app, can't set up a Google speaker but that's what I did and it seems to be working.

Hey Kwise,

Thanks for posting, and apologies for the delayed response. I know how it feels when you can't connect your Google Home Mini to your network. A few questions: What country are you located in? Is this a first time setup or the device has been connected to the same network before? What type of network connection do you have? (Public or Private network) What message are you getting when you try to connect your device to your network?

Below are additional steps that you can try:

  1. Reboot your Google Home Mini and router by disconnecting them from the power source and leave them unplugged for 1 minute. Once done, plug them back one at a time with intervals.
  2. Turn WiFi on and off on the mobile setup device.
  3. If you have a dual-band router, try setting up your speaker or display on both the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz bands.

Please note that your speaker is not compatible with public WiFi networks such as business networks, shared apartment networks, school dorm networks, school networks, and mobile hotspots or pocket WiFi devices.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hey Kwise,

I'm happy to hear that you are able to setup your device. It's really strange that you can't set it up using the Pixel phone. It is possible that there are just settings on the phone that need to be changed or updated for it to work. Moving forward, it looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.

Cheers,

Muddi
