Hello Heidi63 and fos4kurt,

Thank you for your patience at this time. I am sorry to hear that your devices are disconnecting from your network. I understand your concern and would be more than happy to help find a solution. First, I have some quick questions to get a better understanding of this situation.

  • Which Google Home device(s) is this post in regard to? (model name, generation number)
  • Is your phone and all devices on the same WiFi network?
  • Do you have a private one-step password WiFi or a public-like WiFi that requires an additional login/landing page?
  • Have you tried to reboot your router? Does this issue still occur?
  • Does your device connect to a mobile hotspot with no issue? Or does it also disconnect?
  • Could you please try to do a Factory Data Reset to all of your affected devices?
    • A factory reset will reset your Google Nest or Home speaker or display to its default factory settings.
    • Note: This action will clear your data from the device and can't be undone.

Thank you for your patience during this time, I look forward to your response! Please let me know if these steps help resolve the issue or not.

Hi Frances,

Thank you for your help and follow up.

I have mainly gen 2 devices (about 10 2hubs, a max a few minis and a few new larger speakers)
I have a mesh network with good connection.
Everything here is on the same wifi
The wifi is a normal home wifi network with a single password.
I have rebooted my router many times

My issues have stopped since i bought a new S7+ tab where google home seems to work and all devices work as well.. I find it strange that all my somewhat older devices had issues with home or vice versa. Is that normal ?

Best regards, Kurt

Hi fos4kurt,

Thank you for your update! Just double checking, is this issue now resolved?

Yes, it is normal for older devices to not work as well with newer devices. As technology updates, older phones and devices sadly get out of date in terms of functionality and technological functions and slowly start to not work as they once used to, which affects products or apps as well.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns, I look forward to your response!

Hi Frances,

But it is just software right ?
I mean 'all' websites still run on older phones so the home app just sends out commands etc.
I can't see why i had to shell out an extra €700 to get routines going and be able to add n ewer devices to a speaker group ?!
So i don't think the issue is resolved because i circumvented it with hard cash 😉
All the best, Kurt

Hey there,

Sorry to hear about the issues that you're still having.

While it may just be software that is having an issue, with the updates that come out and as time goes by, the updates tend to not work so well with older devices or older operating systems.

The routines issue also may be something that is caused by your location depending on where you are at.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,

Garrett DS
