Google nest hub displays wrong language (partially)

obiwanwrc

My Nest Hub (2nd gen) bought in Italy shows texts partially in italian and partially in spanish. My language setup on the phone is italian (1st language) and english, nowhere I used spanish.

The Nest Hub speaks in italian and processes commands spoken in italian but the messages displayed mostly are in spanish (i.e. the light control is completely in spanish, half of the top menu is in spanish, etc).

Any advice apart from changing language on the assistant menu (useless)?

If I change the language it works correctly for a few hours, after which it returns half to Italian and half to English. I also contacted support but they were unable to help me

I have had the same problem. Of course this is appeared for the first time this year (when the new firmwares started to have a lot of bugs). Today every time I made a full reset the language is Spanish and not Italian. I will call my nest hub “nestbugs hub”.

Hi folks,

That certainly isn't the experience we want you to have and we're here to help. What country are you all from? Let's refresh all device connections first. It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest display. Plug them back in after 3 minutes or 5 minutes tops. Restarting your phone might also help.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan

Hello Dan_A,

I am Italian and live in Italy. I have had the Nest Hub (first generation) for over three years. As I have already written in other posts that in the beginning it was fine and I did not experience any particular problems. But with the various firmware updates, especially from 2022 onwards, it was always worse. Bugs and problems that when corrected with new firmware created new bugs in other parts that had always worked well up to that point. For example around last summer the outside temperature shown on the lower left display would occasionally disappear (which was later known to happen to everyone: another new bug). That's why I had contacted this forum and explained the problem, and you asked me to always do the useless things: try disconnecting the power supply for a minute and then reconnecting the Nest Hub and also trying to reset it, but the bugs don't go away in this way. Anyway, I tried and the reset added two more problems that I never had before: on my Nest Hub all the indications were in Spanish and no longer in Italian. I tried resetting again and also deleting and reinstalling the Google Home app on my iPhone, but the Spanish remained. After some time the Italian is back but other two more glitches appeared: 1 - gone is the ability to have firmware previews (which I had always had all along) and the screen brightness balance compensation no longer working properly (a problem already reported to no avail). In short, seen from the customer side it just seems that the quality of firmware is very poor lately, that it is not verified before being released and that where coders fix it they create problems elsewhere. From Google this I would not have expected.

Hi folks,

Apologies for the inconvenience. It would be of big help if we could isolate this issue ― since the concern is concentrated on Italian, Spanish and even English language, could you set the language to just English only or just one of the three languages mentioned? Also, set your phones language settings to EN-EN and tell us how it goes.

Best,

Dan
