Google nest mini 2 side led always on problem

suiluj
Community Member

Hello,

I have the same problem as described in in other issue here. But I cannot reply on the other thread. So I started a new one.

The problem is still not fixed after several resets:

Both my Google nest mini 2 keep the LEDs on the side (volume indicator) always on.

This problem does only occur after a while even when no settings are changed.

It is really annoying! Please fix this problem Google!

Hi suiluj,

Thanks for reaching out.

We're sorry to hear about this experience with your Google Nest Mini. Since you've mentioned that you have tried to perform a complete reset, may we know when and where did you purchase your speaker so we can check your warranty options? Also, let's try these steps:

  1. On the side of the device, unplug the power cord Princesss_0-1666828210597.png

     wait 10 seconds Princesss_1-1666828210605.png

plug the power cord back in Princesss_2-1666828210602.png

wait until the 4 LEDs light up.
  2. Repeat the first step, 8 more times.
  3. On the side of the device, switch the mic off. The LED lights turn orange.
  4. Press and hold the top of the device (where the LED lights are).
  5. After 5 seconds, the device begins the reset process.
  6. Continue to hold the top of the device for 10 seconds more or until the Google assistant confirms that the FDR has started.
  7. Wait until the device announces “Welcome to Google Home" Princesss_3-1666828210608.png

use the Google Home app Princesss_4-1666828210640.png

      to set up the device.
  8. After the setup is complete, test the device with any voice command.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Princess

I bought my two Google Nest Mini 2 on November 26th 2021 in Germany (Website: www.tink.de).

So I guess I still got warranty?

@suiluj, I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Before we can check your device warranty, have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?

Well I tried the 8 times reset routine with both google nest mini speakers and first I thought it worked.

But a day later the LEDs were always on again at one speaker. Since then I toggled the ultra sound sensor setting for this speaker in the settings again. This helps to stop the LEDs for some time. But I already did this in the past. After a few days the LEDs come back.

We will see how it goes. I dont think this should be a permanent solution and I really would think that a company like Google would fix some small bug like this.
