Up until a couple days ago, I could control my chromecast with google nest mini. Now it can’t even find the device. I know the chromecast is still working because it still to casts to everything no problem, and still shows up in my google home app and I can pause and adjust volume there.
I was wondering if this was an issue with the nest, google itself, my internet, or the chromecast itself. It is generation 1 older model and I know that it’s been discontinued, but everything seems to still work and you’d think it would still work on google specific apps and devices. I do also have the modern chromecast with google tv and it doesn’t recognize that one it. It just says “I can’t find any device to play video on” whenever I tell it to play something. The nest however does still show up in m google home app and still responds when I say to turn off/on the lights.

Sounds like it could be a network issue.. but still, try power cycling your router, as well as the Chromecast and nest mini, and give it a try after all devices have booted up. I still use my nest mini to control my Chromecast for things like Netflix , so it should work for you!
