HUB - Vocabulary What is a Hub and what is not a Hub.

After having bought a Nest Hub 2nd Gen I feel that I need to help Google with basic vocabulary.  This product is not a Hub.  At best it is a display - and a very limited product - seemingly deliberately crippled.

In the home automation world generally devices called Hubs have multiple radios for connectivity of the the full range of home automation devices (eg a Router / Access point, Z-Wave and Zigbee ) along with management software to configure all those radios.  Also since this device is a display, it should have at least the functionality of a Chromecast.... (a display device without a integrated display).

It baffles me that Google spent any time crippling software for this device when all they had to do was use the latest version Chromecast software (firmware).

To be even considered a hub this device should also have as default software the full functionality of the Google Home app.  Again it baffles me that Google spent time and money to create something less capable than software that they already had in hand to make a device that does not deserve the name "Hub".

If Google wants to make a proper hub out of this device - it may be within Google's grasp to simply do a software upgrade that installs the following NATIVE Capabilities:   1) Google Home app  2) Chromecast functionality  3) Play Store to allow installation of certain appropriate companion apps  (TuneIn radio Global player, a browser, management and selection of other streaming apps, WORKING speaker groups).

Presuming that Google wishes to participate in Home Automation - the Play Store for any Google Hub should allow installation of Home Assistant "Assist" app.

Also to be a proper Hub the power / connector should be  USB C  in order to allow connection of the missing radios in this hobbled display that Google is attempting to call a Hub.

Come on Google - at least try to make a real product out of this device.  In it's current state it is a disgrace.

Just take a look at the functionality of the recent Amazon Echo Hub.  That device merits the name Hub.
