Help! I cannot connect to my google nest mini!

Hello,

for some reason a couple of days ago, my google nest mini just stopped being connected to wifi.  No idea why.  I tried to reconnect it using google home. Spent a couple of hours last night trying to fix it by following all the troubleshooting steps.  At one point I was able to get it to connect to my google home app but no matter what I did, it would not connect to wifi.  I spent several hours listening to it repeat over and over that it was not connected to wifi and nearly went insane trying to get it to shut up.  Finally I got it to stop repeating itself, by which point I gave up.  Tried again today and now it is refusing to connect to google home.  I can see it but when I tap to connect it will not connect.  Yea, I have tried restarting everything I can think of, but I cannot see it in my wifi list and I cannot get it to connect to the google home app.
I don’t know what happened to make it suddenly lose its mind.  Is it fixable or do I just switch to Alexa?

I tried starting over and rebooting everything.  But now I can’t even see the device and when I try to talk to it, it shuts tells me it’s not set up and to download google home app.  Which I’ve done! Can someone please tell me how to fix this or should I just switch to a different brand? I have another nest mini that disconnects every couple hours so I gave up on that already.  Are all the google speakers this faulty??

Hi Soaraway,

This is not the experience we want you to have; let me help you. A few questions: when did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Also, you can revert your Nest Mini to its default settings by doing a factory reset. Here’s how.

Furthermore, to eliminate network issues, please try setting up your device using a mobile hotspot. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one will serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Google Home/Nest devices). Once done, check if your device will have the same behavior.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan

Hello Soaraway,

Have you tried the troubleshooting steps that Dan suggested above? Let me know if that resolves your issue or not, so we can try something else.

Cheers,
