Home Device is (Seemingly) Trying to Kill Me

MackD

My Home device seems to utter the phrase "Death, Death" every evening when a routine starts that I have set to close my blinds.

Surely there is a more reasonable explanation as to why this happens before I call the local exorcist.

I believe I can turn it off in the "Play routine on" setting so will see if that helps.

Did you open an umbrella indoors or walk under a ladder or somethin. You might want to get your crystals out... and if you encounter anything paranormal, if it asks May I come in? Say No! You may not! Scram !

As far as the technical situation IDK man id get that device offline and clean out all your connections, all the data and logs and connections and factory reset it and change your wifi password and router pw and update everything in your house you have on the Internet, and factory reset the one with the demons and try to just exchange it for being defective if you can. Sounds like a demon to me, for sure. But idk I've never actually met a demon

Hi MackD,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry that your speakers are saying that word every time that a routine starts. I understand how frustrating this can be. I'm here to help.

For your concern, please try the below steps:

  • Delete the routine.
  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap Automations.
  • Select a custom routine to delete.
  • At the top right, tap Delete > Delete Routine.
  • Re-add the routine with the same action but without the word.
  • Tap Automations.
  • Choose a routine to edit.
  • Edit the routine, then:
  • Edit Routine name: Customers can set a custom name for the routine to make it easier to identify. Tap Edit next to the name of the routine to update the routine name, then tap the check icon.
  • Activate Routine (Custom Routines only): Customers can enable or disable their Custom Routines with the Activate Routine toggle. When activated, the toggle turns blue and slides right to indicate the routine is activated. This feature can be helpful for customers who want to keep a routine configured but want to disable it as needed, like when they're on vacation.
  • Add or edit starter: Customers can set a routine that starts at a specific time or at sunrise or sunset. For routines that start at sunrise or sunset, Assistant uses the home address and asks to select an Assistant device for the routine.
  • Add or edit actions: Customers can add or edit actions.
  • Reorder actions: Customers can tap and drag the handle next to an action to change the order in which actions run as part of the routine.
  • Once changes have been made, tap Save.

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Regards,

Kevin
