How do I disable the chime on Google Assistant speakers?

I have had a pair of Google Home Mini (gen 1) speakers, and a pair of Harman/Kardon Citation One speakers, for over a year, and never observed the following behavior:

I just added a new pair of Google Nest Mini (gen 2) speakers, two days ago.  For two days now, every hour or two, these new speakers chime for no apparent reason.  Are they trying to tell me something, like they need an update?  Maybe my wi-fi is flakey, so these speakers are disconnecting/reconnecting?  Is there a pending message, that I need to acknowledge?

In any case, I want to disable this chime, at least at night.  Can I do that with Night Mode, or Do Not Disable settings, or some such?  I have Googled these settings, but I am not sure they will do the trick.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks.

BTW: I primarily use all my Google Assistant speakers for streaming music with YouTube Music Premium, using the app on my iPad.

Oh, and yes, I have unplugged them from power, plugged them back in, and the chime problem persists.
