This used to not be a problem it's one of those that goes off and on. There used to be a setting to prioritize Google Assistant devices. I can't find that setting anymore. It occurs to me that if I am at home and I try to speak to the Google Assistant that it won't Google Assistant that it will answer both on the Google speakers and on my phone at the same time and then after I am done speaking will it start to answer on the Google speaker even though it also recorded my answer on the phone. This is very embarrassing to watch I am not the creator of Google Assistant, I am not a software developer but you would think that they would have tested something like this I mean do you expect all people to just turn off their phones as soon as they get home to their Google speaker Ridley did you not test this product I don't understand this issue that I am having This should not be something that the customer should have to bother themselves with

Hello John Doe 8476,

Thanks for your message. I am sorry to hear about your frustration with your Google Assistants responding to you. I would be more than happy to help find a solution to your issue.

Your best solution to this issue would be adjusting your "Hey Google" sensitivity so that both devices aren't responding at the same time. Here are the steps:

Set Google Assistant’s “Hey Google” sensitivity
IMPORTANT: When you adjust the “Hey Google” sensitivity for a device, it applies to anyone who uses that device.

  1. Make sure the mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as the Google Nest or Home device.

  2. Open the Google Home app .
  3.  Tap the device card of the preferred speaker or display.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings   Audio  “Hey Google” sensitivity.
  5. Use the slider to raise or lower the device's sensitivity to make it more or less responsive to "Hey Google".

With adjusting and customizing the sensitivity for each device, you can shape which device responds.

Please feel free to reach out with any other questions or concerns you may have. Thanks!
