How to stop Nest Hubs from going to screen saver. Want to monitor a doorbell & a camera.

I bought 2 Nest Hubs to monitor a Nest Doorbell at my front door & another to monitor a Nest Camera on my driveway.   Both Nest Hubs keep timing out to screen saver.   I want them to show the cameras 24/7 when we walk in the kitchen where the hubs are located.   Is there a setting I can use to defeat the screen saver?

@jimwensink

I'm not aware of any "screen saver" function or setting on any of our Nest Hubs. We can configure a clock or "Photo Frame".

Sometimes, if we are live-streaming one of our cameras, the live-stream is halted.  It doesn't happen very often, but then we don't usually live-stream for long periods of time.  I think such interruptions can occur if there's a glitch on Google Nest's servers, but can also be affected by our Wi-Fi network's bandwidth and signal strength, and by our internet connection.

I can stream the same cameras for hours on my computer, with no interruptions.   There is something with the Nest Hubs that is the problem.   I bought them exclusively to stream video into my kitchen.  Would not have bought this system if I knew of this limitation.   Bought Google Nest system since I use an Android phone & thought it would be the most compatible.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help here, MplsCustomer.

jimwensink, thanks for reaching out. To save power, the live video stream stops automatically:

  • Live video from battery-powered Nest cameras and doorbells stops after 5 minutes.
  • Live video from wired Nest cameras and doorbells stops after 12 hours.

Check out this helpful link to learn more about it.

Stream your security camera using your Google Nest display
