Hub to Local Switch Only.

Scenario... 3 bedrooms, each with a Hub and a Smart Switch (each Switch controlling only the bedrooms lamps in their specific room).

Requirement: We want "Hey Google. Good Night" to work in each room so that the command will only impact the Switch connected to the Hub receiving the instruction.

(ie: rather than each room have to have slightly different wording... a "Good Night" in bedroom 1 should only turn off the lamps in bedroom 1. A "Good Night" in bedroom 2 should only turn off the lamps in bedroom 2....).

Possible?

Hi Wags55,

Thanks for posting.

Since all the devices are on the same Wi-Fi network and under the same account, everything should be working as intended; however, it would really help a lot if you could try creating a custom routine to control your smart switches. Also, for specific commands, it would be best to just be specific and say “Hey, Google! Turn off (name of lamp/switch)”. You can edit each name to make it more established.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Dan

Thanks Dan...

I suspected that it wouldn't be possible to localise the Routine and have for example "Lights On" / "Good Night" as a generic command, working in only the room where the command-receiving Hub is located.

FYI: I had already set up specific Routines to match the bedroom (BR) I am in... (BR1) "Hey Google - Lights On", (BR2) "Hey Google - Lamps On", (BR3) "Hey Google - Spare Bedroom Lights On". I guess we just have to remember what Routine applies to what room.

Hopefully, the Google team can eventually code for a "local switch" solution, so that the same command "Hey Google - Lights On"; "Hey Google - Good Night"... can be used anywhere but is applicable only to the room the command-issuer is in.

Cheers
