I'm having sudden issues casting music from my Pixel phone or Chromecast to my nest mini speakers

When I open my Apple music app on my phone and ask it to cast to my speakers, it says it's casting, but it continues to keep playing on my phone only. In addition to that, when I use Google Home to cast to my speakers, it does work, but the volume (even at 100%) is ridiculously low to the point you can't even hear it.  I don't have the same problem with Spotify. 

I didn't have this issue before I switched over to the WiFi Pro network. What's going on?

Hi Anouck526,

 

This is not the experience we want you to have; let me help you. A few questions: when did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made aside from switching to the Nest Wifi Pro network?

 

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first: 

 

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest Mini..
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

 

If the issue persists, you can revert your Nest Mini to its original settings by doing a factory reset. Follow the steps below:

 

  1. On the side of your device, switch the mic off. The lights will turn orange. 
  2. Press and hold the center of the Nest Mini, where the lights are on top. 
  3. After 5 seconds, your device will begin the factory reset process. 
  4. Continue to hold for about 10 seconds more, until a sound confirms that the device is resetting.
  5. Redo the setup.

The steps made no difference. The only thing that helps (temporarily) is uninstalling and then reinstalling the app....

Thanks for trying the steps. Could you please tell us if this happens on all music providers you try on your Pixel phone? Have you also tried using a different device to check if you will also experience the same thing?

It was just with Apple music, everything else (like Spotify) was fine. However, after the last deletion and reinstallment of the app it seems to be working properly. Fingers crossed it stays that way 😊

Thanks for updating us. It looks like there are some work that needs to be done on Apple's end.
