Important feature request:
- We have several google speaker products at home that play background music together at an ambient noise level.
- Other than this, our primary use is to get basic info like time of day, weather etc.
Given that the volume level is set to a low, ambient level (around 15%) it makes it incredibly difficult to hear the response. We have to take 3 steps: make the volume louder, then send the query, then lower the volume. This is incredibly frustrating to do and inefficient.
Our lives are super busy with family and work and we depend on these speakers 100% for this sort of information. It may sound crazy, but we sometimes don't have time to look at a watch because we're in the middle of dealing with something physical between meetings (like baby related matters). Being able to ask for the time, hands-free, is super valuable to us. But this doesn't work if we can't hear the answer.
It would be better if there was a feature allowing us to send responses to be delivered at a different volume to music, such as music at 15% and responses at 40%.
I truly believe this would help users, and is a very small feature to build in, in terms of complexity.
Thank you

It would be terrific to have separate volume levels for various purposes, including doorbell "visitor announcements."

@MplsCustomer for each automation you can "Adjust the Assistant volume" (Media volume) up for an announcement and then down, but assistant and media volume cannot be separated.

That's good to know, but we don't use automations.

So they're notifications rather than custom announcements?
If you want the volume higher you might need to make an Automation.

A good idea!
- Create automations for those basic Time, Weather, etc to 1) raise the volume 2) ask the question 3) lower the volume.
- a second speaker playing music with the microphone muted would be useful.
-A Nest Hub would give visual response as well as verbal.

Hi Ironmaiden,
Thanks for reaching out to our community.
I appreciate your efforts finding a feature on your Google speaker to get the Google Assistant responses at a different volume than the background music you use to play at home. It’s my pleasure to assist you with this concern.
At this moment, based on the settings features available for the Google speaker devices, I found that you can use your voice, touch controls, or the Google Home app to control the volume on your Google speaker devices to control the volume of media and Google Assistant at the same level.
Please consider sharing your thoughts directly with our development team through this feedback form. Your input will help us prioritize features and ensure that we're meeting the needs of our diverse user base.
Feel free to keep us posted if you have more questions.
Best regards,
Virna
