LIFX not linking

I have an issue that popped out of no where. My Lifx app isn’t linking properly inside the google home app. Even though I have gone through and logged in to Lifx through google home “works with google home” link. The list where your linked accounts show up doesn’t show Lifx. Because of this issue I haven’t been able to control my lights through the google home app.

Hey QasimRiaz,

Thanks for sharing details about the issue. My apologies for the late response.

I know how challenging it can be when you're having issues linking your LIFX account from the Google Home app. A few questions: where are you located? What is the current version of the Google Home app on your phone? Have you tried using a different phone/tablet?

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,

Muddi

image1.pngimage0.pngHi Muddi,

Thank you for the reply. I'm located in North America. I have tried it with an android device as well as other iOS tablets but the same issue on everything. The app version for google home on my iPhone is 2.53.103. I have attached a few pictures of an example light, which somehow shows up in my list of devices even though the service does not show even when I try to unlink Lifx.

Hey QasimRiaz,

Thanks for the quick response. Could you tell us what state in North America you are located in? This is for us to check if your smart device is fully supported. Also, have you tried resetting your bulbs and speaker?

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi Muddi, yes I’ve also tried resetting the bulbs. The Lifx app seems to be working fine. Its just the linking. I do have to ask if this is in any way linked to my 2 factor authentication on google. I use a key (YubiKey) bought from the google store to authenticate my login. This issue started only a few months ago. I’ve had the key for at least six months. I’m in Fairfax, Virginia btw.

Hey Mousehouse,

Just wanted to check if you had the chance to fill out the form? Let us know by updating this thread, and we're glad to help.

@QasimRiaz: To confirm, have you tried to disable the 2 factor authentication first to check if that's the causing the issue?

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Muddi

I am having the exact same issue - I just rebooted all my lights as swapped my router over and changed the wifi network name. The lights work in the Lifx app, and I can link other company products (e.g. Sonos), but whenever I try to add Lifx in "Works with Google", it just stops halfway through, and doesn't link. I'm in Australia, with a Pixel 6.

@Muddi  I did not want to disable 2FA. I was however able to solve my issues. @Jake My wife and I both have google home accounts. Turns out somehow the Lifx got linked to her home. Even though we are in the same home. Anyways the resolution was removing the link from her account and relink it to myself.
