Making speaker groups

I am unable to make any device groups at all on my google home app. I keep getting the following error:

com.google.CastFramework.SetupLib.CastSetUpError error 0.

I am only attempting to make a group out of home minis (1st gen and 2nd gen) and the nest audio. Everything was already fully factory reset this morning before writing this in an attempt to fix it but that also did nothing. I have tried all different combinations as well to try to see if it’s just one that’s causing the issue but no combination works.

do you have any other groups already set up?

None at all. When I reset them all the groups were deleted.

OK, the reason I mentioned this was because of a recent limitation where many speakers will be restricted from having them in more than one group.

Have you tried putting a group of just 1 speaker (if it lets you, if not then 2 speakers) in a group? and if that doesn't work, try a group of 1-2 completely different speakers? The reason I'm mentioning this, is in case the error is limited to just one of the speakers causing the error

I understand where you’re coming from but I have tried all of that along with every different combination of speaker(s). Solo or in pairs, trios, or all four together all result with that error.

But I can’t even make a single group. And I also have minis that won’t make a group either.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a bug you're hitting, because of the implementation of the 1 group limit. The error is identical.

I'm sure you tried the following things, but to be sure: 1. Try to make an empty group first and then add the devices? 2. Go to the device details and then Settings --> Audio --> Groups and then selecting the new group?

I've had different experiences with both ways in the past...

Hello folks,

I'm sorry to hear that you're running into issues with your speaker group settings. Can you please tell me a little more about what's going on, and file in-app or on device feedback so that our team can take a deeper look?

Best,

Princess

You must be joking right. As if the devs aren't aware of this mess...
