Since the other thread about this issue has ended up with a discussion caused by a misunderstanding with an iOS user but I really would love to knew if this feature can be expected to come back sooner or later:
With the Sonos lawsuit we did not only lose the ability to change the volume of an entire speaker group, the ONLY ON ANDROID available option to cast the phones audio to speaker groups also went missing. This feature was very useful for any app that has not the built in feature to cast audio, as it just mirrored the phones audio similar as you mirror the screen to a Chromecast. I used this a lot to cast some twitch music streams to all my speakers, since the twitch app only gives the option to cast to single devices but no speaker groups. I really miss this possibility, and would just like to know If it ever will be back, maybe when changing the volume of the group is back again? Is it even planned to bring that back?
I thinks it's pretty embarrassing for a company as big as Google that they still have implemented their own version of what they used from Sonos before, is selling the largest possible amount of user data not profitable enough to hire some coders as good as the ones Sonos hired or is the "project:Smarthome" all together no longer under development?
Thanks for visiting the community.
My apologies for the late response here. You did notice a change, but you can still control the volume and equalizer settings for each speaker in a group individually using the Google Home app, a display device, or Assistant voice command. Also, I don't have information on whether this feature is coming back, and unfortunately, don't have anything additional to share at this time.
