Music keeps cutting out

I got a Google nest home for Christmas. It’s been great except for the last few days. Music keeps cutting out. Plays music for a minute or two then stops and starts again a minute or two later. It is not my internet as nothing else is having an issue. It does this on both Spotify and SiriusXM. This morning the screen went black as well and when I “hey googled” I got nothing. I’ve already unplugged it for a few hours and that did nothing to fix it. Is it defective? Do I need to have it replaced?

Same/Similar here past few days. We're having the same issue with Spotify. It will play a playlist just fine and then get stuck at the end of one of the playlist's songs. I can press/tap the pause then press/tap play (Spotify web interface) and it will then continue for a few songs and stop again. From the display of any of our Hub or Hub Max the pause and play fail to respond when this symptom is happening. None of this happened a earlier this past week. I'm I.T. and I even unplugged all devices rebooted the router and all other connected devices, and no luck fixing the issue. Google Home engineers need to fix this mess.

At least I know it isn’t just me. I’ve only had this thing for a month. Not happy with it. Never had any issues with my echo. They better fix this quick.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out and letting us know about your music and radio concerns. You can try the factory reset; this erases all your personalized settings and restores the factory default settings. It won’t automatically reconnect to WI-Fi, and you’ll need to set it up again. Check out the article below to know more about it.

Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays

Juni

Well it seems even our YouTube Premium subscription which is active still has commercials. Granted, they seem to all be commercials for YouTube Premium, but we already have YouTube Premium. What gives with that? Ugh!

The same is happening here! I’ve even changed the router, reconnect everything, factory reseted all the devices. Tried again… and nothing. The music continues cutting out. When it just stopped, it was a problem but solvable! Now, cutting out all the time is just impossible! 😭😭😭

Hi camila_consoni,

Thanks for posting and doing the troubleshooting. I’m sorry for the trouble this has caused you. Let me help you out. A few questions: what Google Nest speakers or displays do you own? Does this happen only when you play music? What music provider are you using? Also, are you getting the same experience when you play the radio?

I look forward to your response.

Regards,

Juni

Hi Juni!
Thanks for the reply. I own 4 speakers, 2 Google Home Mini (1st gen) and 2 Google Nest Mini (2nd gen). I only listen to Spotify, so I can’t answer about the other questions. I’ve experienced twice the sound cutting while google was telling me “sure, playing music from Spotify”.

Thank you again!  ☺️

Hi there,

Thanks for the details you’ve shared. You can try to play radio or music from YouTube music and observe if you will get the same behavior. Check out the sample commands below.

Say "Hey Google," then:

"Turn on the radio" or "Play the radio"

"Play some music on YouTube music"

Keep me posted.

Thanks,

Juni
