My Google Nest Mini, changes the light brightness when I ask "okay?"

Hello, my Google Nest Mini changes the brightness of the light when I ask "are you okay?" I have checked if there are any routines that could be triggering this command, but there is NOTHING. Is it possible to have some invisible routine? Can anyone help me with this?

Hi IgorLange,

Thanks for posting — let's get this sorted out. A few questions:  when you said “brightness of the light”, are you referring to a smart light in your Home? When did you notice this? Do you have other Google Home devices that are doing this same behavior?

Regards,
Alex

Hello Alex, sorry for the delayed response - yes, when I mentioned the brightness of the light, I'm referring to the smart light I have in my house. I noticed this behavior when my brother asked if the Google Assistant was okay. I have 2 Google Nest Mini 2nd gen devices, and both exhibit this behavior.

Hello IgorLange,

No worries!

Just to add, what’s the make of your smart light? Does the same behavior happen if you are the one who asks “are you okay?” on both your Google Nest Mini devices? Let’s try the steps below:

  • Open the Google Home app > Devices  > Tap your Google Nest Mini device icon > Settings > Remove device > Remove.
  • Go to Devices > Scroll down to Other cast/Local devices > Tap the Google Nest Mini you removed > Add to a room. Follow the instructions in adding it back to a room.
  • Try to ask this Google Nest Mini the command “are you okay?”. If the issue persists;
  • Factory reset Google Nest Mini and set up.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,
Alex
