Nest Audio cannot edit settings for Night mode

I recently got a Nest audio with the intention of using it as an alarm clock among other things.

I'm using a music alarm but the volume of the alarm is not consistent. When I test the alarm by setting it for some time during the day it sets the volume to 90/100 which is what I have configured for the alarms and timers volume in the settings of the device. However, when I set it for my normal wake up time during the week (5:05 AM) it plays at a volume of 45. I noticed that this number was exactly half of what it should be so I thought maybe the Night mode is stopping it from going louder. I've tried turning off night mode altogether, editing the times for night mode so that it ends before 5:05 AM and also setting the max volume during night mode to be 100% however, none of that seems to work. I don't know if the night mode settings are being ignored or if there is some other setting that is limiting the volume at that time in the morning. I need the volume to go higher though as I have a hearing loss and sleep without my hearing aids in.

Has anyone dealt with this issue? Most of what I have seen online is people trying to get the device to be quieter but for me the problem is the opposite.

Hey zfallon10,

Thanks for stopping by on the Google Nest Community Forum.

sorry to hear that you're having issues with alarms on your Nest Audio. Let's dig deeper: when did the issue start? What is your default music service provider? Is it happening on a specific song?

Please try these steps below:

  1. Reboot your Google Nest Audio and router by disconnecting them from the power source and leave them unplugged for 1 minute. Once done, plug them back one at a time with intervals.
  2. Try to set up an alarm that will notify you in 5 mins for testing. This will help us check if you still have the same issue after rebooting your device and router.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hello,

My default music provider is Spotify and the issue does not happen on a specific song. I have already tried rebooting a few times. I frequently run tests throughout the middle of the day where I set an alarm with the same song for 30 seconds from the current time and it plays at volume of 90 which is what have set for my alarms and timers volume. The issue only occurs during what seems to be the default range for night mode (10:00 PM - 6:00 AM). This is despite night mode supposedly being off when I view the settings for the speaker in the Google Home app

I have some additional information. This morning I woke up before the alarm went off so I opened the Home app so I could watch the speaker as the alarm engages. Before the alarm engages, the speaker is set to 60 volume. Then when the alarm engages I see the volume bump up to 90. Then a few seconds later it bumps back down to 45 and starts playing the music for the alarm at 45. This happened at 5:05 AM this morning.
