Nest Hub Max linked to another account

I have a Google Nest Hub Max which was connected to my account. The power went out one day and the hub disconnected from my account (was asking me to set it up again and wasn’t showing up in my home anymore). I tried to reconnect it but it keeps saying that it is linked to another account. I have tried factory resetting it multiple times, checking other Google accounts to see if it is linked to any of them. I now don’t know what to do and the device is essentially useless.

I know how it feels when something isn’t working the way it should. Let’s further check on it.

 

You mentioned that you tried checking other Google Accounts — are you referring to your household members in the Google Home app? If not, check your members’ account if Google Nest Hub Max is listed from their Google Home app, and ask them to remove it: tap on the display > Settings > Remove device > Remove. 

 

Once removed, try to set it up again. If you got the same message, do these steps:

 

  1. Attempt to set up the Nest Hub Max again.
  2. If the same message appears, try to:
    • Force close the Google Home app , but don’t tap Exit setup.
    • Reopen the Google Home app > scroll down to the bottom of the Home page.
    • Check if your Google Nest Hub Max is listed under Other Cast Devices or Local Devices. 
    • If found, choose the device, assign it to a room, and link it to the account.
  3. Unplug the device.
  4. Wait for at least 48 hours.
  5. Factory reset the device > attempt to set up the device again.

I have tried these steps, but I am still experiencing the same issue. I have made sure that it isn’t linked to any other google accounts that it could’ve been linked to and couldn’t find anything. What else can I try?
